Sharpe, Philip William Carwithen, Commander, 1884-1957.
This sub-collection consists of journals kept by Sharpe as a midshipman on HMS MAJESTIC in the Channel squadron, 1900-1901; HMS DIANA in the Mediterranean, 1901-1902; and HMS ARIADNE on the North America and West Indies station, 1902-1903. There are also service documents, a memorandum notebook, and a navigational notebook.

Philip William Carwithen Sharpe was the son of Vice-Admiral Philip Ruffle Sharpe. He was born at Queenstown in Ireland in 1898. He entered the Navy as a cadet on HMS BRITANNIA in 1898 and passed for lieutenant in 1905. He died at Ringwood in Hampshire in 1957.
