Fielder, Charles Henry, Master Mariner, 1903-1993.

The collection mainly consists of logbooks relating to Fielder's employment on coastal vessels, mostly owned by F.T. Everard & Sons Ltd, in 1924-1938. There are also some personal papers and photographs.

Administrative / biographical background
Fielder was born at Rochester in 1903. His early experiences at sea were on sailing barges, following the profession of his father. During the period 1924-1937 he was employed on coastal vessels owned by F.T. Everard & Sons Ltd, Greenhithe, including several years as master of the motor tanker PROWESS (1926). Later he worked on lighterage vessels owned by the coal and coke merchants Charrington, Gardner, Lockett (London) Ltd. He died in the Hammersmith area in 1993.
