Midshipman's journal kept by John Ronald Gower between 24 September 1929 and 13 September 1930. For most of this period, Gower was on the cruiser HMS SHROPSHIRE (1928), with the First Cruiser Squadron in the Mediterranean. Between 18 July and 10 August 1930 he undertook training on the aircraft carrier HMS EAGLE (1918). The journal includes sketches, technical drawings, charts and programmes for sporting events.
