Leather bound volume containing a midshipman's journal kept by Frederick Arthur Buckley between 28 May 1904 and 31 December 1905. It covers his voyage from Southampton to Cape Town on the passenger liner GASCON (1897), then the proceedings of the cruiser HMS CRESCENT (1892), flagship of the Cape of Good Hope Squadron. The journal includes watercolours, technical drawings and charts.
