Seascape with unidentified floating object
An oil sketch drawn by William Lionel Wyllie. It depicts an unidentified black object floating in the sea. It is not clear what the object is but it seems cuboid in shape. The sketch has been made with expressive brushstrokes. Loose brushstrokes in grey and white suggest it is an overcast and cloudy day. There is a strip of dark grey sea on the horizon. The sea in the foreground is light grey blue. Loose black brushstrokes have been painted in front of the floating object to simulate shadow and indicate the waves.
