Right Honourable Admiral Viscount Exmouth, G.C.B.&c.&c.&c. London, Published for the European Magazine by J. Asperne 1st Septr 1817

A bust-length portrait of Edward Pellew, 1st Viscount Exmouth (1757–1833) in admiral’s full-dress uniform, 1812–25, wearing the ribbon of the Order of the Bath over the ribbon of the Sicilian Order of Saint Ferdinand with the star of the Bath on his left breast, together with short ribbons representation his various honours. Lettered beneath the image with the title, ‘Right Honourable Admiral Viscount Exmouth, G.C.B. &c. &c. &c.’ Also lettered with the publication details: ‘London. Published for the European Magazine by J. Asperne 1st Septr. 1817. / Engraved by H. Meyer from an original Painting by S. Drummond Esq. R.A.’ This portrait was engraved by Henry Meyer after Samuel Drummond’s oil painting of around 1816, now in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter. The print was published by James Asperne as an illustration in ‘The European Magazine, and London Review,’ volume 72 (September 1817), opposite page 99, together with ‘Memoir of the Right Hon. Sir Edward Pellew, Bart. Viscount and Baron Exmouth’, pp. 99–103. (Updated May 2019.)
