Cosmographia universalis et exactissima iuxta postremam neotericor traditionem [3]

Cosmographia uniuersalis et exactissima iuxta postremem neotericorum traditionem Venetijs ealendia Maij MDLXVII ad signum pyramidis. One of four sheets making up a world map. Dedicated to Agostino Valerio, cardinal and bishop of Verona. Thought to be one of the earliest extant maps to depict the Strait of Anian separating Asia and America. In the corners of the map are Juno (representing the Air), Vulcan (Fire), Rhea or Cybele (Earth) and Neptune (Water). This is the largest of the general maps to be found in composite atlases.
