On board the Type 81 general purpose frigate Eskimo (1961) in No. 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard during her 1971-1974 modernisation. The photographer is looking forward and slightly to starboard from the hangar roof at 72½ station just to port of the centreline on 01 deck showing the Limbo mortar barrels, the replenishment at sea tripod, the simple tachometric director, the port and starboard close range blind fire directors, the funnels and the foremast. Flight deck landing lights are fitted either side of the jalousie vents and the guide path indicator is under these vents on the after funnel. The canvas covers of the blind fire directors are open and the AKE1 bedstead aerial of the type 965 long range surveillance radar is at the masthead. The heavy repair ship Triumph (1944), pendant A108, is alongside the north wall of the basin.
