On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard during her September 1968 to April 1970 refit. The photographer is in the crew's and marines' 3G mess between 50 and 56 stations on 3 deck looking forward on the port side at 52½ station showing a triple tier bunk unit, a cleaning gear locker and a notice board on the right. Mess lockers, a clock reading 10.18, an automatic emergency lantern, two loudspeakers and a wire rope ladder leading up to an escape scuttle are against the forward bulkhead. A mess fanny, a water can and a deck washing/cleaning machine are on the deck. A vertical format negative.
