Alexandra (1875)

A Specification for the 'twin-screw Iron-clad frigate' HMS Alexandra (1875), launched as a central battery ironclad, to be armed with 18-ton guns and cased with 11-inch armour. The specification is corrected from its original name during construction of 'Superb', to Alexandra in 1874 before launch in 1875.

The printed specification has annotations in red ink to reflect the as built details, dated 21 April 1877, during its fitting out at Chatham Dockyard.
