The commercial waterfront at Bahia, Brazil, taken from on board the passenger cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) which is outside the breakwater. The photographer is on the starboard side of the forward end of the main boatdeck looking to port and slightly forward showing passengers looking over the port rail of the forward boat deck towards the shore. The sterns of lifeboats 2 and 2A are under the davits on the right. The end of the breakwater is on the right and beyond it are a floating crane, some lighters and a coastal steamship. The dockside sheds numbered 2 to 10 line the waterfront and inland from shed number 3 on the right is the Elevador Lacerta with the Prefeitura Bairro Centro (City Hall) on the skyline above it. A vertical format negative.
