The commercial quay and sheds 9 and 10 at Bahia, Brazil.

The commercial quay and sheds 9 and 10 at Bahia, Brazil. The photographer is on board the passenger cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) off the quay as she manoeuvres to berth alongside. Two floating pontoons are close to the quay wall and a number of people are on the quayside. The rail mounted crane number 14 is ready to lift a gangway into place once the ship has berthed. The crane has a makers plate showing it was constructed by Stothert & Pitt Ltd in Bath, England, in 1934. On the extreme right is the mill. Two churches are on the skyline, the one on the right being the Santissimo Sacramento.
