A general view of Bahia, Brazil, looking north-east from the upper town near to the Elevador Lacerta. Commercial buildings are in the lower town, including the oil tank of The Caloric Company Fuel Oil. The masts of a large number of lateen rigged sailing craft can be seen at the north end of the quay. On the skyline of the upper town are the towers of the Convento do Carmo on the right and of the Igreja do Santissimo Sacramento do Passo church on the left.
