A special occasion in the Careenage at Bridgetown, Barbados.
Looking east-north-east into the Careenage at Bridgetown, Barbados. The photographer is in a boat at the entrance to the harbour. The Wharf Road on the north side of the Careenage is packed with spectators. The Custom House is on the left and all of the buildings have flags hoisted. Alongside the north wharves are a 2 masted schooner dressed overall with an awning rigged over the main boom and packed with spectators and another 2 masted schooner with people on the crosstrees and the deck packed. Beyond this schooner is the clock tower of the Public Building. Schooners alongside the south wharves have people in the rigging. The negative is slightly out of focus.
