The west end of the Careenage at Bridgetown, Barbados.

The west end of the Careenage at Bridgetown, Barbados. The photographer is on the south side of Blackwoods Screw Dock looking north showing a shore police officer standing on a rock behind a signboard at the top of the embarkation steps. A sailing vessel, probably a schooner, is dried out on the screw dock floor and her bow is on the right of the picture. Motor cars and a mule cart are on The Wharf Road on the north side of the Careenage and to the left of centre are the premises of the West India Oil Co. on which there is an advert for Vacuum Marine Oil.
