Children's party, Singapore

A photograph of a mannequin dressed in uniform with medals pinned to the left breast. It is wearing a gas mask with a rifle propped up on its right side. It is resting against a cupboard. 'Merry Christmas' is written on the mirror behind the mannequin. 'If this is Janjira give me China' is painted on a board at head height to the left of the mannequin. This caption may be a reference to their visit to Karachi and Bombay [Mumbai] between November and December 1926 prior to arriving at Singapore in December 1926. Janjira was a Princely State just south of Bombay.

The photograph is captioned 'Children's party. Singapore. Christmas 1926'.
