The photographer is on the aft deckhouse looking forward and to starboard showing the aft end of the promenade deck and number 17 lifeboat. At anchor to the left of centre and seen from off her port beam is the P & O Lines passenger cruise ship Strathmore (1935) with the Detached Mole beyond her. The South Mole of the Dockyard is on the right with the town and Signal Hill beyond it. Willis Battery peak is in the centre of the picture.
