A street scene in the town at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking north-east down the hill towards the harbour. Motor fishing vessels are in the harbour and the steeple of St. Michael's Church can be seen. All of the buildings are constructed of timber. The northern mountains of Klavo are in the background. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived. A vertical format negative slightly out of focus.
