The eastern end of the harbour and town of Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking south-south-east from the passenger cruise ship landing steps showing motor fishing vessels and two coastal passenger/cargo steamers. One of the fishing vessels is registered F.1.S. The building facing the harbour include the Colonial Hotell, O. Haugen and M. Gabrielsen Traelast. People are on landing stage on the right. The Sadlen is in the background and on the summit are a lookout tower and a signal station. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
