On board the Swedish passenger cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) in the Gatun Locks on the Panama Canal. The photographer is looking aft on the starboard side of the aft upper promenade deck showing the chief officer standing on the aft navigating bridge wing with a few passengers on the deck below him. The ship is in the east upper chamber and will be heading south into Gatun Lake. The control tower between the west and east locks is on the left of the picture and a steamship is in the east lower chamber. A vertical format negative.
