A coastal settlement and harbour on Penang Island, Malaya. Sampans laden with firewood are in the foreground and a pile of firewood is on the shore next to thew wooden landing stage. Single storey thatched roof huts are on stilts in the background and sampans are alongside many of the huts. A sunken junk is in the harbour and other junks are anchored off, some with their sails hoisted. The same junks can be seen in negatives numbers P94238, P94239 and P94244.
