The photographer is on the north-east coast of Rhodes looking across a wide promenade. Three local people are pulling a 2-wheeled handcart near five seamen of the Italian Navy. The Italian Navy destroyer Giovanni Nicotera (1926), seen from ahead of her port beam, is at anchor in the right. She has the identification letters NC on her hull.
