The passenger landing stage at Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies.
The passenger landing stage at Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies. The photographer is in a motor lifeboat from a British cruise ship just off the stage and a passenger launch fitted with an awning is alongside the end of the stage. A large 'Welcome' banner is displayed between two poles at the forward edge of the landing stage and a large number of people are lining the rails in anticipation. At the landward end of the landing stage is a sign reading "Welcome to our royal visitors" and there are flags and rows of bunting. The building on the left is the central police station and a sign on the building reads "Saint Vincents greetings to all our visitors". The identity of the royal visitors and the date are unknown. They may have been travelling on the Canadian Pacific Steamships cruise ship Duchess of Bedford (1928) or Duchess of Richmond (1928) and been escorted by the Royal Navy battleship Malaya (1915).
