A man holding a short handled adze is standing by the bow. Large offcuts of trees are on the ground and there are trees near the boat. Fort Charlotte is on top of the hill in the background. The bow of the Cunard Line passenger cruise ship Samaria (1921) can be seen at anchor on the left of the picture.
