The photographer is looking south-east-by-east from the seaward end of Cemetery Hill showing the waterfront of the bay with jetties projecting out into the bay. The waterfront buildings are mainly two storey and the building with the dome in the centre of the waterfront is the central police station. The town is surrounded by forested hills.
