Unknown ironclad; bow carve work (circa 1865)
Scale: 1:48. A plan showing the bow carve work for an unnamed ironclad (circa 1865).
The carving is a coat of arms within a curved foliage frame. A female winged angel is reclining in a long dress blowing a trumpet held in her right hand. Below her is a conical shell spilling out cornucopia. At her feet is a large globe, an open book, a paint palette and a lyre, representing the muses of the arts and science: navigation, literature, art and music.
The carve work is drawn in pencil on tracing paper. The plan includes an Admiralty Letter Book numbers DM1153-65.
