The first class dining saloon laid up ready for a meal on board an unidentified cruise ship.
The first class dining saloon laid up ready for a meal on board an unidentified cruise ship. This negative was originally identified as the Viceroy of India (1929) by the Marine Photo Service but it definitely is not. The saloon on this negative has pairs of port holes outboard, the deckhead is supported on hexagonal columns, the lights are hexagonal and the chairs have woven seats. The saloon of the Viceroy of India had pairs of arched windows outboard, circular columns, four-sided lights and the chairs had upholstered seats. The Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company ships Strathnaver (1931) and Strathaird (1932) had hexagonal colums and lights but they had windows and not port holes.
