'Elephants on deck S.S. Ederanna'
A photograph of two elephants on board the British India passenger/cargo ship Edavana (1911), after being taken up as an Indian Expeditionary Force transport. In the background is the back of another elephant and the windlass on the foredeck. An elephant keeper is holding a bucket as if about to sluice the deck with water. The deck has fodder and elephant dung strewn over it.
