An Indian shopkeer with bells, rope, basket and pots
A black and white landscape photograph showing an Indian shopkeeper and his shopfront, probably in Calcutta [Kolkata]. Bells, coils and lenths of rope, baskets and pots are arranged for sale. The interlocking roof tiles of the shop's roof, its brick base and wooden pillars are also visible. Coils of rope also sit in the foreground, on top of long planks of wood. The shopkeeper and another man, possibly his assistant, are squatting and facing the camera. Each wears a cap and some form of dhuti/dhoti (a loose garment covering the legs).
