Men hauling a net

'Men hauling a net'. The painting is divided in two parts, sea and sky, with a proportion of 3:4. On the forground the dark sihouette of a fishing boat with three men hauling a net attracts the attention. In the background two large (Dutch?) three-masters lie at anchor. Further discernable are two smaller sailing vessels and a shallop. In the forground a dark stroke of water is painted, followed by a light stroke just behind the fishing boat. After that is a darker tone of water painted as to suggest distance. Everything is quite roughly painted; the clouds become more voluminous by the rough broad stroke. Painted in the style of De Vlieger.
