View of the Royal Observatory Greenwich, from the bottom of the hill, with steps leading up

Mounted with PAF2844-PAF2864 and PAF2866-PAF2927; page number 22. A view of Flamsteed House from the north. If the eastern view (PAF2864) is accurate, the buildings on the left project from an eastward step back in the boundary wall (as shown on the left in PAF2864). Charnock suggests there are 13 steps in 'The Ascent' (the so-called 'giant steps') including the final riser to Avenue level, though Greenwich maps of the 1690s suggest there were only 10 including the final riser.
