Nautical Dispute (caricature)
Three Greenwich Pensioners, one with a peg-leg, disputing the points of a sea action round a tavern table, using the broken stems of clay pipes as ships (a common factor in various similar prints). Two sit on plain Windsor chairs, one stands, a seated civilian looks on and keeps out of the argument, and the landlord enters on the right bearing more ale to fuel what looks like being an increasingly acrimonious dispute.
The impedimenta of the room, especially on the mantlepiece, and the triangular box ashtray for the 'clays' on the floor under the table are well observed.
