Sketch of transport sailing vessel Hotspur also details of figurehead and stern

Pencil sketch of port broadside view of the transport Hotspur showing masts and rigging but no sails. In the upper left corner the bow and figurehead are depicted and in the upper right corner, the stern detail.
Part of R.S. Thomas Album III; stored with PAH4369, PAH4371-PAH4406.

Note: Hotspur may have been launched at Hull in 1830. However, the identification given here is uncertain as the vessel in Lloyd's Register is listed as a barque, but also as "London Transport" in the Register of 1838-39, before she was removed from London to Blyth. She continued to be registered as a barque until her disappearance from the Registers in 1843-44. She was then converted to a government transport and this may be the period when she was sketched by R.S. Thomas.
