Sketch of paddle steamer 'Firebrand' and details of stern, bow and paddle

Five fairly finished sketches, with the entire vessel in port-broadside view placed centrally, and surrounded above by (from left to right): two views of her stern; her bow as far as the first two gun ports, and her port-side paddle. Inscribed below: “Firebrand Octr 3rd 1844”; and above the bow view: “Upper part of Ports in line with the upper part of the Hawse-piece”.

In October 1844 ‘Firebrand’ was readying to leave Portsmouth as the commanding vessel of that year’s “Experimental Squadron” (see PAH0917 for a depiction of the squadron underway).
