Unnamed three-masted sailing ship, possibly Leander (1867)
Scale 1:48. Drawing showing the sheer lines with figurehead, body plan and longitudinal half breadth for a 210ft three-masted clipper sailing ship. This may be the clipper Leander (1867), built at Glasgow by J. G. Lawrie, however, the dimensions are slightly different. Leander's length is recorded as 215 while this plan indicates that it is 210 between perpendiculars. The breadth matches and the depth in hold is only 0.4 of a foot different. The plan looks to be the one reproduced in 'The China Tea Clippers' by Basil Lubbock (opposite page 263).
An unprovenanced inscription in pencil states: "Leander or Thermopylae" [Thermopylae written out] / I think H.J.G./12"
Inscription on reverse in pencil: "Leander?"
