Prisoner's love token.

Obverse: Pricked on the smooth surface of a coin starboard broadside view of a full-rigged ship at anchor; sun, moon and stars above; masonic signs (left) and (right). On ship's hull, 'T. GOUGH'. Below: '1835.' 'T.G.D.'

Reverse: Two doves, a heart on either side (above), a crown below, between initials 'TG'. Inscription: 'LOVE', 'HAPPY . THE . HOUR . THE . PRISONER . FRE. AND BRAKE . THE . CAHNES . (sic) . OF . SLAVERY. CHARELINE (sic) GOUGH.' Legend: 'THOMAS GOUGH'. Thomas Gough was one of 300 convicts on the 'Aurora' on 18 June 1835 to Van Diemen's Land. He was convicted at Warwick Assizes.
