Proposal by the Board of Longitude to pay John Harrison a sum of money for the development of his timekeepers.
Proposal by the Board of Longitude that £7500 be paid to John Harrison when 'the principles upon which his machine watch, or timekeeper is constructed, are fully discovered and explained; andMr Harrison hath assignedhis timekeepers to the Commissioners of the Longitude, for the use of the Public'. Also a further sum of £10,000 to be awarded to him once other timekeepers have been made and 'upon trial found to be of a sufficient correctness to determinelongitude, within half a degree, or thirty geographical miles'. No date, but before August 1765.
