'Warrior' (1860)

Scale 1:48. A plan showing the body, sheer lines and longitudinal half-breadth at the stern of the broadside ironclad 'Warrior' (1860). The plan includes plan views of the corresponding parts of the main deck and upper deck. The plan is entitled A 'Sketch showing a proposed alteration of the stern of the 'Warrior' for the purpose of housing the rudder, retaining the Propeller Well'.

The 'Warrior' retained her propeller well, although it is not clear whether the configuration shown on this drawing matches the arrangement after the completion of her 1863 refit. There is a reference on the reverse of the plan to Admiralty document SS1461/66 dated 10 January 1866, suggesting that this proposal was still under discussion at that late date. 'Warrior's' sister 'Black Prince' (1861) was completed with a non-lifting fixed screw.

Plan NPC5133 is a counterpart to this plan, showing a proposal whereby the propeller well is removed.
