Scabbard
Scabbard for a dirk, after 1856, which belonged to Admiral Louis Henry Keppel Hamilton (1890-1957). The black leather scabbard has one gilt locket with two rings and chape. These are decorated with threads and scrolls. The chape is also decorated with a honeysuckle motif. There is a steel spring at the top of the back edge of the locket, which engages in a slot in the back quillon.
