The reverse of the blade is engraved with the words 'HMS CUMBERLAND APRIL, 1908', with decoration above and below, a crown over a foul anchor motif, rays, acorn motifs, and a crown over the Royal cypher 'G v R' with rays above, between further acorn motifs. The black leather scabbard has one gilt locket with two rings and chape. These are decorated with threads and scrolls. The chape is also decorated with a honeysuckle motif.
