Bottle

Glass bottle with a glass stopper that is covered with a piece of leather with string wrapped round. Brown liquid inside. Printed label reads "Compound Tincture of Bark". Second label has printed company name "Twinberrow Pharmaceutical Operative Chemist." Savory 1836, p. 90:
“Tincture of Bark, Compound (Huxham’s). – This tincture has long been in great repute, as one of the best preparations of bark; but the discovery of quinine has shewn that it is not as good as had been supposed. The dose is from one to three drachms. It is a grateful stomachic in dyspepsia. (See Bark)” (Under bark have been listed: Peruvian bark, canella bark, oak bark)
