Snuff box lid
Snuff box belonging to Sir Robert Seppings (1767-1840). A carved tortoiseshell snuff box lid, circular in shape and carved in high relief. The lid shows the stern of HMS 'Asia' surrounded by flowers and foliage and based on E.W. Cooke's engraving of 1828. Inside the lid is a crest with the motto: 'IMMOTUS' and below it 'R.S'.
