Diploma box

Box presented to Admiral of the Fleet Andrew Browne Cunningham, Viscount Cunningham of Hyndhope (1883-1963). A plain cedar box with panelled sides and two cartouches on the front painted blue and gold, one with a crest, the other with the monogram 'ABC'. Inside the lid is a black plaque with the inscription: This diploma box, made of timber from a bombed building at Malta Dockyard, is presented to Admiral of the Fleet Sir Andrew Cunningham Bt. G.C.B.: D.S.O. as a token of appreciation of his great national services on the occasion of his election to Honorary Membership of The Institution of Civil Engineers. The box has six, carved feet that are dark brown.
