A series of free teacher CPD sessions delivered by The World Reimagined team that inspire and empower students and teachers to make racial justice a reality.
The World Reimagined aims to transform how we understand the transatlantic slave trade and its impact on all of us, in order to make racial justice a reality.
Each session will be connected to The World Reimagined learning programme, so teachers will have resources to access and use in the classroom. Teachers can sign up for one session or all three. There will also be the option of a short, guided tour of The World Reimagined globes in front of the National Maritime Museum afterwards.
Sessions will be delivered by The World Reimagined team, and a commissioned poet (for the final session).
Overview of the sessions
Values in Action
Thursday 8 June
Define and connect deeply with our own values, and what it means to bring them to life. Our ambition for our best selves is essential to engaging in anti-racist work.
Facing Power and Privilege
Thursday 15 June
A session focused on understanding power and privilege and embracing growth. The session will introduce The World Reimagined's Journey of Discovery – a series of themes to help us reimagine the past, present and future – and how these can be incorporated into teaching.
Creative Expression for Racial Justice
Thursday 22 June
Taking place on Windrush Day, this workshop explores how poetry can be a tool to engage in these conversations in a meaningful and constructive way. It also gives teachers the chance to express themselves.
