In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Mr Gory and others having clothed my Regiment for the year 1694 and there being due to them for the same the sum of £6395, I desire you will give orders to imprest this sum to be charged on the Soldiers' Wages, without which it will be impossible for me to have credit to clothe them another year, they having been out of money for two years, and the other Marine Regiment who were clothed at the same time were paid seventeen months ago. Besides I have half clothed for the year 1695, which is also yet owing for. Signed Lord Berkeley, Marine Regiment Commander.
