Letters from Ella Ambrose to John Short January to May 1936.

5th January: ‘dear it is 3 years and nearly 4 months since we saw each other’. 22nd January, she writes about hearing the death of the King over the wireless on Monday night. January 26th: ‘It has been such a sad week’, with the funeral of King George. 5th February she is feeling anxious as she hasn’t received a letter from John in the last post. 20th February she is more anxious and wonders if he is ill. 11th March she is happy since he has finally written. She also writes about Health and Beauty Exercises she is undertaking, and a visit to London. 15th March, she describes the terrible snow. 2nd April she writes about a boat trip to the Isle of Wight. 10th April (Good Friday) she congratulates John on his promotion.
