In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Thomas Bassett, late Cook of the Swift, advice boat, makes oath that Richard Walton, late Surgeon of the SWIFT, came to him several times and egged him on to swear that Captain Bostock did sell several provisions to a cook at Arundel and that if Bassett swore this he would stand as his friend and help him to get his wages. Captain Bostock was acquainted of the information against him and asked whether he could say, or call any person who might do him any service. He said that several persons having positively affirmed matter against him, it would avail him little to call anyone on his behalf, though there were several officers and people who could declare that they had never seen anything of what others had alleged. [Note on document]: Captain Bostock denies the whole of this article. No date; signed by an unnamed Navy Board Clerk.
