In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
From a dockyard near Portsmouth. Letter stating that only labourers who produce wood chips are permitted to take them out of the Yard, though the wives and children of labourers are admitted to enter the Yard twice a week to gather chips as a form of sanitation. The writers caution that if labourers other than Carpenters and Shipwrights were allowed to produce and take out chips the efficiency of the Yard would be greatly prejudiced. Signed by two Dockyard Officials.
