Ephemera relating to the service of Laurence Richard Oliphant as a midshipman and lieutenant in the period 1894-1908:

(1) Single sheet with a printed programme for the burlesque ‘Romeo and Juliet’ performed by midshipmen (including Oliphant) and officers of the battleship HMS EMPRESS OF INDIA (1891).
(2) ‘Gibraltar Chronicle and Official Gazette’ published on 5 March 1894, including a review of the above burlesque seen at the Assembly Rooms, Gibraltar.
(3) Single sheet with a handwritten list of locations to be visited by the Training Squadron, including the iron screw frigate HMS RALEIGH (1873), on a cruise from Portland to Norway and back, between 20 May and 15 September 1899, issued by Commodore Edmund S. Poe.
(4) Typescript sheet with the schedule for the summer cruise of the Channel Fleet, between 25 June and 29 August 1907, issued by Admiral Lord Charles W.D. Beresford.
(5) Official programme and souvenir of the visit of the Second Division of the Channel Fleet to Aberystwyth from 1 August to 5 August 1907.
6/ Cutting from a Norwegian newspaper reporting on the visit of the Channel Fleet, including the battleships HMS KING EDWARD VII (1903) and HMS HIBERNIA (1905), in June 1908.
