Letters to and from John Marshall February 1814.

A series of letters during February 1814 including letters from Lieutenant James Edgecombre; letters from Captain Arthur Farquhar; Admiral William Young; Apperman; Sir Edward Thornton; document signed by Count Schulenburg a letter from Captain Arthur Farquhar to Captain Marshall about the correspondance with General Count Schulenburg and a letter from Farquhar about the praises from Admiral Young.

Administrative / biographical background
Sir William Young of the White (1751 – 1821) service during the American War of Independence, and the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. In October 1811 Sir Edward Thornton went again to Sweden (until 1817) on a special mission in HMS VICTORY and he successfully negotiated treaties of alliance with both Sweden and Russia.
